General Info Come join us for our March Madness Tournament for 5th through 8th Grades! Date and Time: Saturday/Sunday, March 25-26, 2017 Location: Madison High School and Thoreau Middle School Eligibility: Grades 5-8 Divisions: 5th, 6th, 7th 8th grades D1 and D2 if enough teams (May be added or subtracted to based on registrants) Format: Four 8-minute quarters, Minimum 3 guaranteed games, running clock until last 2 minutes of each quarter Team Cost: $325 (early-bird) or $350 (NO SPECTATOR or GATE ADMIN FEES!) Each parent must register their child and sign the waiver - this is done all online. Coaches are responsible for Birth Documents and Grade Exception Forms. Upon request, these must be made available to the Tournament Director or representative. Check-in: Teams should check in at least 15 minutes before their first game. Games may start up to 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. The scheduled game time is forfeit time. Uniforms: Teams must have complete and matching uniforms. Teams listed first will be the “home teams.” Designated home teams will wear white jerseys and visitors will wear dark jerseys. Overtimes: First overtime period will be 3 minutes and any subsequent overtime periods will be 1 minute. Free Throws: Free throws on the rim. Ball Size: 28.5" for 5/6 Grades, 29.5" for 7/8 grades Bench Location: The home team sits on the right side of the scorekeeper’s table (while standing on the court facing the scorekeeper’s table) Casts and Jewelry: - A hard cast/brace may not be worn on the elbow, hand, finger, wrist or forearm, even if covered with soft padding. Hard cast/braces on the upper arm or shoulder must be padded. Jewelry is not permitted Mercy/Sportsmanship : If a team is winning by 20 points, there will be a running clock instead of stopping for the last two minutes of each quarter. In addition, full court press is no longer allowed by the leading team. Timeouts Rule: Two time-outs per half are allowed, but cannot be carried over to the second half. Drinks: Only water is allowed in the gyms and hallways. No food or drink (other than water) may be brought into the gym.
